How to Get to Amalfi

Airport:

Best: Naples International Airport (NAP) – Closest and most convenient (~1.5 to 2 hours from Amalfi)

Alternatively, you can fly into: Rome (Fiumicino - FCO) – Longer journey (~3.5 to 4.5 hours)

Transportation from Naples to Amalfi:

Option 1: Private Car Transfer

Door-to-door convenience – no transfers or waiting. Ideal if you're arriving with lots of luggage, are tired, or want a stress-free arrival. Takes ~1.5–2 hours depending on traffic. Cost: from €130–200+ depending on car size.

Trusted transport contact:

Option 2: Ferry from Naples to Amalfi

Scenic ride along the coast — arguably one of the best views you'll get. Often faster than a car during heavy traffic (especially in high season). Usually cheaper (about ~€62 round trip per person).

There is a seasonal schedule, not ideal if you have a late arrival since most ferries stop at 5 - 6pm. Search for tickets and port location FerryHopper

Option 3: Train + Ferry or Bus

Take a train from Naples to Salerno (~40 mins, €6 ). Buy tickets at TrenItalia. Then take a ferry from Salerno to Amalfi (seasonal, scenic, ~35 mins). Or take a bus, SITA buses run this route regularly. it is inexpensive but might be curvy roads and give you motion sickness if prone to it (- 1hr)

Transportation between towns in the Amalfi Coast:

Rental cars are not recommended; parking is very limited, roads are narrow and there is traffic. Ferries are one of the best ways to travel between towns, book tickets early! Local ferry:  Navigazione Libera del golfo
